Eligibility Criteria
- Qualifications – Head Constable
(Steward):
- 12th class pass from a
recognized Board.
- Diploma of minimum two years
duration in Catering and Kitchen Management from an institution
recognized by the Central Government or State Government.
- Working experience of minimum
one year as a Steward in a minimum hundred bedded hospital or institution
recognized by the Central Government or State Government.
- Qualifications – Head Constable
(Communication):
- 12th class pass in Science
with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Board; OR
- Three years Diploma in
Electronics or Communications or Computer Science or Information
Technology from a recognized Institute.
- Qualifications – Head Constable
(Electrician):
- Matriculation or equivalent
from a recognized Board.
- Two years work experience in
respective trade; OR
- One year certificate course
from a recognized Industrial Training Institute or Vocational Institute
with at least one year experience in the respective trade; OR
- Two years Diploma from a
recognized Industrial Training Institute in the respective trade or similar
trade; AND
- Must qualify trade test.
- Qualifications – Head Constable
(Veterinary):
- 12th class pass with Science
and Biology as main subject from a recognized Board.
- Two years Diploma Course in
Veterinary and Livestock Development or Veterinary Stock Assistant Course
or Animal Husbandry Course from an institution recognized by the Central
Government or State Government.
- Nationality: Only Indian citizens are eligible. No person who
is not a citizen of India shall be appointed except with prior written permission
of the Central Government. Subjects of Nepal or Bhutan may be appointed in
the Force.
- Crucial Date for Age &
Eligibility: The closing date for
receipt of applications i.e. 30 (thirty) days from the date of publication
of this advertisement in the Employment News will be the crucial date to
determine age and all eligibility criteria.
- Candidates must fulfill all
eligibility conditions for the applied post and be in possession of all
certificates as on the last date of receipt of applications.
Salary / Stipend
- Post: Head Constables (Steward, Communication,
Electrician and Veterinary)
- Pay Scale (7th CPC): Level-4 Pay Matrix – Basic Pay ₹25,500/- to
₹81,100/- Per Month
- Other Allowances: Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House
Rent Allowance and any other allowances as admissible in SSB from time to
time as per Government orders.
- Pension: Selected candidates will be covered under Defined
Contributory Pension Scheme (New Pension Scheme) OR Unified Defined
Contributory Pension Scheme (UPS) as applicable for new entrants to
Central Government services w.e.f. 01st January 2004 or 01st April 2025
respectively, as per prevailing government rules and organizational
policies.

- Age Relaxation:

deduction of military service rendered from actual age
- Departmental Candidates
(Central Govt. Employees): Up to 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC), 45 years
(SC/ST)
- Candidates domiciled in
J&K and Ladakh during 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989 (UR): 5 years; (OBC):
8 years; (SC/ST): 10 years
- Children and dependents of
victims killed in 1984 riots (UR): 5 years; (OBC): 8 years; (SC/ST): 10
years
- Age relaxation is NOT
admissible to sons, daughters and dependents of ex-servicemen.
- Date of Birth (D.O.B.) and name
as recorded in Matriculation certificate will be accepted for determining
the age and name. No subsequent request for change in date of birth and
name will be considered.
Application Fee
- UR, EWS and OBC Candidates: ₹100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) – Non-Refundable
- Exempted (Fee = Nil): SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and Female candidates are
exempted from payment of examination fees.
- Payment Mode: Net Banking / Credit Card / Debit Card / UPI
- No amount will be refunded in
any case. Candidates are advised to avoid making multiple payments against
a single registration as payments are non-refundable.

Selection Process
- Stage I – Physical Efficiency
Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST):
- PET – Male: 1.6 Km run in 6
Minutes 30 Seconds; Female: 800 Meter race in 4 minutes.
- Ex-Servicemen are exempted
from PET but must appear in PST, Written Examination, Skill Test (as
applicable), Documentation and Medical Examination.
- PST – Candidates must meet
prescribed height and chest standards (post-wise and category-wise as per
notification).
- General (UR/EWS/OBC): Male –
165 cm height, 75–80 cm chest; Female – 155 cm height (Head Constable
Steward). Different standards apply for SC/ST, NE States, J&K and
other specified categories.
- Stage II – Written Examination
(Computer Based Test – CBT):
- Paper-I Common Entrance Test:
3 hours duration, 150 marks, 150 multiple-choice objective type
questions.
- Part-I (50 Marks): General
Knowledge, Mathematics, Reasoning, General English/General Hindi.
- Part-II (100 Marks): Technical
Subject.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 50%
for Gen/EWS/OBC/Ex-SM; 45% for SC/ST.
- Final Merit will be prepared
on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the written examination.
- Stage III – Skill Test (Only
for Head Constable Electrician):
- Skill test will be conducted
for up to 20 times the vacancies (category-wise) for the post of Head
Constable (Electrician).
- Skill test carries 50 marks;
minimum qualifying marks for all categories including
SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen: 60%.
- Skill test is qualifying in
nature. Marks of skill test will not be included in the final merit list.
- Stage IV – Document
Verification (DV) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME) / Review Medical
Examination (RME):
- Candidates shortlisted up to 3
times the vacancies (category-wise) will be called for Documentation and
DME/RME.
- All original documents will be
verified by detailed BOOs of SSB.
- Candidates declared unfit in
DME may prefer an appeal for Review Medical Examination (RME). The
decision of RME Board will be final and no 2nd appeal will be
entertained.
- Final Selection: Final selection list will be prepared in order of
merit, category-wise, after completion of Review Medical Examination.
Where equal marks are obtained: candidate with more marks in Part-II
(Technical Subject) will rank higher; if still equal, senior in age will
rank higher; if date of birth is also same, priority based on alphabetical
order of names in English.
General Information / Instructions
- Posts are temporary but likely
to continue. Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India or
outside the Territory of India and will be governed by SSB Act & Rules
and other Rules amended from time to time.
- A candidate can apply for only
one post from amongst the posts mentioned in the notification.
- Applications received through
any mode except Online Mode shall not be accepted and rejected
straightway.
- SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates who
fulfill eligibility criteria of unreserved category may apply against the
unreserved category for posts where no vacancies are reserved for
SC/ST/OBC/EWS.
- OBC Non-Creamy Layer status
should have been obtained within three years of the closing date of
receipt of applications.
- EWS certificate should be valid
for 2026-27 as per Annexure-III. Family gross annual income must be below
₹8,00,000/-.
- Biometrics of both thumbs (Left
& Right) of candidates will be taken for verification in all stages
after attendance.
- Persons employed in
Government/Semi-Government/Public Sector Undertakings should apply through
proper channel and submit NOC from their employer at the time of
documentation.
- Name, Father's Name & Date
of Birth should be mentioned exactly as recorded in the Matriculation
certificate.
- Candidates should be prepared
for a stay of at least one week at the recruitment venue at their own
arrangement. No TA/DA will be admissible.
- Unemployed SC/ST candidates
appearing in the written test will be reimbursed fare as admissible under
relevant Rules subject to production of Rail/Bus tickets, original caste
certificate and Non-employment certificate issued by MP or MLA or any
Gazetted Officer.
- Persons with bigamy/marriage to
a person with a living spouse are disqualified. Conviction by court of law
or dismissal from Government service also leads to disqualification.
- Calculator, Digital Diary,
Cellular Phone, pager, Whiteners, blade etc. are prohibited in the
recruitment venue.
- The DG, SSB has full right to
make changes/cancel/postpone the recruitment without assigning any reason.
- There will be no provision of
reserve merit list/panel. If vacancies remain unfilled after declaration
of final result, the same will be carried forward for the next
recruitment.
- Any amendment in the
schedule/condition/process of recruitment will be available on SSB
