SSB Sub-Inspector Eligibility Criteria 2026

SSB Sub-Inspector eligibility criteria include nationality, age limit, educational qualification and other conditions. All conditions must be fulfilled as on the closing date of application.

Nationality

• Only Indian citizens (subjects of Nepal or Bhutan are eligible with prior permission of Central Government).

Age Limit

• Not exceeding 30 years (as on closing date of online application)

Age Relaxation

• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• Ex-Servicemen: As per rules
• Departmental Candidates: Up to 5/8/10 years (as per category)
• J&K/Ladakh domiciles and 1984 riot victims dependents: As per rules

SSB Sub-Inspector Educational Qualification 2026

Educational and professional qualifications for SSB Sub-Inspector Recruitment 2026 are post-specific and must be from recognised boards/universities/institutes.

• Sub Inspector (Staff Nurse): 12th pass + Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery (3/3.5 years duration as per year of passing) + Registered with Central/State Nursing Council.
• Sub Inspector (Pioneer): Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised University/Institute.
• Sub Inspector (Communication): Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication / Computer Science / Information Technology Engineering or Science with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognised University/Institute.

SSB Sub-Inspector Selection Process 2026

The SSB Sub-Inspector Selection Process 2026 comprises multiple stages, and only those candidates who qualify each stage as per SSB norms will be considered for final appointment.

• Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Only for Sub Inspector (Communication) – Male: 1.6 km in 6 min 30 sec; Female: 800 m in 4 min. Ex-Servicemen exempted.
• Physical Standard Test (PST): Height & chest measurement as per category and region-wise standards.
• Written Examination: Computer Based Test (CBT) of 150 marks (3 hours) – Part-I (General Knowledge, Maths, Reasoning, English/Hindi – 50 marks) & Part-II (Technical Subject – 100 marks).
• Documentation & Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Verification of documents followed by medical examination as per SSB medical standards.
• Review Medical Examination (RME): If required.

SSB Sub-Inspector Salary 2026

All SSB Sub-Inspector (Staff Nurse, Pioneer & Communication) posts are placed in Pay Level-6 (₹35,400–1,12,400) of the 7th Central Pay Commission

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance, Ration Money Allowance, House Rent Allowance and other admissible allowances, and will be covered under Defined Contributory Pension Scheme or Unified Pension Scheme as applicable.
